Inderpreet Singh

Managing Director

15 years experience

Inderpreet runs Smart Energie, which in practice means owning the decisions nobody else wants: what we quote, what we take on, and what we walk away from. Fifteen years of running his own businesses came before this one. He and Wasim merged their two firms in 2022 and split the work the sensible way, Wasim on the engineering, Inderpreet on everything that decides whether a job should happen at all. He is the one who says no, and he would rather say it in week one than week six.

Wasim Ashraf

Operations Director

25+ years experience

Wasim has been a gas engineer for more than twenty five years, and an air source heat pump engineer for the newer part of that. Domestic and commercial both, so there is very little in a plant room or an airing cupboard that surprises him. He founded Smart Energie alongside Inderpreet in 2022, after years running his own business, and he is still the person our engineers call when a system will not behave.

Hiral Raval

Retrofit Coordinator & Assessor (DEA)

Hiral holds a project together end to end: the assessment, the improvement plan, the evidence, the sign off. A qualified Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor too, so she has often surveyed the house herself first.

Teena Kuryan

Compliance Manager

Teena manages certificates, scheme requirements and audit trails, all the paperwork that still has to be right long after the scaffolding has gone. If a job cannot be evidenced properly, she says so before it starts.

Renae Whittaker

Customer Service Manager

Renae looks after customers from the first call to well past handover. She knows where every live job has got to, so when you ring you get an answer rather than a promise to call you back.

Palwinder Singh

Field Inspector & Gas Safe Engineer

Palwinder is Gas Safe registered and inspects our work on site, checking each installation against what was specified and what was promised, while it is still easy to put right.

Filip Black

Loft Installer

Filip installs loft insulation and works alongside the wider team wherever an extra pair of hands makes the difference. Careful about what is easy to get wrong up there, like keeping the ventilation at the eaves clear.

Sukhdeep

Procurement

Sukhdeep sources the kit and keeps materials moving, so what was specified is what actually turns up on site. She is the reason a job does not stall in week two waiting on a part.

Ahmad Zubair

IT Specialist, Assessor (DEA) & System Designer

Ahmad looks after the technology side of the business and designs our air source heat pump and solar PV systems. A qualified Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor too, so a design starts from a real survey.

Our standards

Everyone on your job is here because we trust them. Completely.

We don’t operate a wide network of unfamiliar subcontractors. Every engineer on a Smart Energie project is either directly employed by us, or works with us regularly enough that we know exactly how they work: how they treat a customer’s home, how they leave a job at the end of day three, how they communicate when something unexpected appears.

All our engineers hold the relevant certifications for their trade: Gas Safe for gas, MCS for renewables, Part P for electrical work, BPEC and similar for heat pumps. But the certificates are the entry ticket, not the standard. Beyond the qualifications, we look for people who take real pride in their craft. Who clean up after themselves without being asked. Who explain what they’re doing as they go, not because the manual says to but because it’s the considerate thing to do.

We invest in continuous training as the industry evolves. Particularly as the move towards PAS 2035-aligned retrofit deepens, as battery and heat-pump technology matures, and as electrical regulations tighten. An engineer who stopped learning when they passed their last exam is not someone we want on our projects.
