How we survey

On every fabric and ventilation assessment. Heat loss, cold bridging and failed insulation, found consistently across a whole portfolio.
Output — A heat-loss picture per property
For any property considered for a heat pump. Scanned and modelled room by room, so the system is sized to the building rather than to a rule of thumb.
Output — A room by room heat schedule
For any property considered for solar. Roof geometry, shading and structure measured without putting up scaffolding.
Output — An array layout that fits the roof
Every assessment wrapped into one PAS 2035 file per address: design sign off, lodgement data, commissioning records and post-install evidence.
Output — A file that survives an auditHow a programme runs
Five stages. You get something real at the end of each one, and you can challenge it before we move on.

Your archetypes, timescales and funding routes against our real capacity.
You get · An honest yes or no on what we can take

Methodology, comparable programmes, mobilisation plan and indicative pricing. Not tender boilerplate.
You get · A document your evaluators can score

A joint design workshop, an agreed reporting cadence and an escalation route with names on it.
You get · A schedule you are invited to challenge

Our own trades on site, tenant liaison running ahead of them, and progress published against the plan.
You get · Property stages you can watch move

Lodgement, post-install evidence and the full property file, handed over complete rather than chased.
You get · A pack your compliance officer can file
Our signature honesty
The programme is priced below what the archetypes need. We would rather lose the tender than deliver a compromise you inherit.
Lodgement windows are shorter than the design work allows. Rushing PAS 2035 design is how audit gaps get built in.
Volume is beyond our real capacity this year. We tell you what we can take, and when, rather than inflating a number.
Tenant access has not been thought through. We will ask you to fix that first. It is the single biggest cause of slippage.
The stock needs fabric work that is out of scope. Heat pumps into uninsulated homes make bills worse. We say so early.
Another contractor already has it moving well. We will say so. Switching mid-programme rarely helps the tenant.
We don't win public-sector contracts by being the cheapest. We win them, and we keep them, by being the contractor that doesn't need supervising.

Sector
Property type

Detached, 1970s · Homeowner
Air source heat pump · Solar PV (6 kW) · Battery storage · Loft insulation · Cavity wall insulation
Annual saving: £1,240
EPC: E (44) → B (89)
“We budgeted for disruption and got almost none. Three actual days of work, spread across two weeks to suit our diary. The house is warmer than it has ever been and the first winter bills were a genuine shock, in the good direction.”

Victorian mid-terrace, solid walls · Homeowner
High-efficiency condensing boiler · Internal wall insulation (2 rooms) · Loft insulation top-up
Annual saving: £680
EPC: F (28) → D (62)
“They were upfront that solid-walled Victorian terraces are never easy to insulate. They explained the trade-offs in language I could actually follow, we chose internal insulation for the two coldest rooms, and the difference is remarkable. Rooms we barely used are now comfortable in January.”

Mixed: 1960s council flats and terraces · Social Housing
Solar PV · External wall insulation · Loft insulation · Heating controls upgrade
Annual saving: £620 per property
EPC: D average → B average (94% of properties)
“The documentation package was the best we have had from any installer. Every property had its own compliance file, every TrustMark lodgement completed within forty-eight hours. It made our grant reporting genuinely simple.”

Sheltered housing, older residents · Social Housing
New heating systems · Loft insulation · Draught-proofing · Heating controls
Annual saving: £480 per unit per year
“Working with vulnerable tenants demands patience and real sensitivity. Smart Energie’s team understood that instinctively. Not a single complaint from residents across the whole programme. Something we have never said about a retrofit before.”
From the homes
I was nervous about the whole thing. We'd had a bad experience with another company who left us with a faulty boiler and stopped answering the phone the moment we mentioned it. Smart Energie were a different planet. The engineer talked me through everything before he started. The quote matched the final invoice to the penny. He cleaned up better than we do. Our bills dropped noticeably in the first month. And when we had a question about the controls six weeks later, the same engineer rang me back the same afternoon.
The solar and battery have been running for four months and we've barely touched the grid. What I really appreciated was how upfront they were before we signed anything. They told me our south-facing roof was good but not perfect, gave me a realistic generation forecast, and the system has hit it almost to the kilowatt-hour. That kind of honesty before the sale is rarer than it should be.
We have two small children and I was dreading three days of engineers in the house. They were brilliant. Polite. Quiet during nap times when I asked. Tidy at the end of every day. The heat pump is much quieter than I expected and the house is genuinely warmer, even the kids' bedrooms, which used to be freezing in winter. I'd recommend them without hesitation, to anyone.
